Cliff Diving Animation

Cliff Top Diving is an AR release title for SONY on the PS Vita. (More on SONY Vita Augmented Reality here). The game’s hero, Diver Dan, is the man. Or at least he thinks so. In reality Dan is a cross between Jonny Bravo and Mr Magoo. Mi was briefed by SONY to conceive and produce the intro film. We chose to develop Dan’s characterisation into an exposition piece that sets the tone for the game. If you’re lucky enough to own a PS Vita you can watch Dan dive spectacularly off your very own table – sometimes he even lands in the water. Adam Dickinson, Production Director says: “We took care of everything on these intros, the base model was designed and initially created by the Fantastic Developer Spiral House in Liverpool. We then increased the resolution and textures to make it to a high render quality. From then on we rigged it, animated it and progressed all of the creative development and production, right through to rendering and version output. The only thing which wasn’t in house from that point on was the sound, which was executed brilliantly by Zelig.”
